✦ Our Story
We believe food is one of the most powerful forces for good. Here's the story of how Embracing Veganism came to be.
Embracing Veganism was born from a simple but powerful idea: that plant-based eating should feel joyful, not restrictive. Too many people we spoke to saw veganism as a diet of sacrifice — salads, bland tofu, and endless substitutions. We knew that wasn't the whole story.
We started this platform to show the world what vegan food can really be: vibrant, deeply flavoured, satisfying, and deeply connected to a broader vision of how we want to live on this planet.
Every recipe we publish is crafted to be genuinely delicious and visually stunning. Food that excites you is food you'll actually make.
Veganism is for everyone, not just those with specialist shops nearby. We focus on achievable recipes using ingredients you can find anywhere.
Every recipe is a small act of compassion — for animals, for the planet, and for your own health. We help you understand the why as much as the how.
Whether you're fully vegan or just vegan-curious, there's a place for you here. No judgement — just good food and good information.
We believe that the most powerful thing most of us can do for the planet, for animals, and for our own wellbeing is to change what we put on our plates. Not because we're told to — but because once you discover how extraordinary plant-based food can be, you genuinely want to.
We believe in progress over perfection. We believe in community over judgment. And we believe that a bowl of food made with care and intention can change your day, and perhaps, over time, your life.
"The most ethical diet just so happens to be the most environmentally sound diet, and it just so happens to be the healthiest." — Dr. Michael Greger
Embracing Veganism was created by a small team of food lovers, writers, and plant-based cooks who came to veganism from different places — some through ethics, some through health, some through a growing unease with the environmental cost of the food system. What united us was the discovery that plant-based food, done well, is simply extraordinary.
We are not nutritionists or doctors. We are enthusiastic, informed home cooks who believe that the best argument for eating plants is eating a really, truly delicious meal made entirely from them — and then making it again because you wanted to, not because you felt you had to.
Every recipe on this site goes through multiple rounds of testing before it's published. We test for flavour first — if it doesn't taste genuinely excellent, it doesn't go up, regardless of how nutritious it is. We test for accessibility second — checking that ingredients are available in standard supermarkets, that the method works in a normal home kitchen, and that the timings are realistic for a weeknight cook.
We are opinionated about a few things: we believe in big flavours, proper seasoning, and cooking from scratch where it matters. We also believe in pragmatism — that a quickly made tahini noodle bowl on a Wednesday evening is infinitely better than an elaborate recipe you'll never get around to making.
Our nutrition content is grounded in current scientific consensus. We don't make health claims we can't support, and we always recommend consulting a dietitian for personalised advice.
We don't believe in vegan purity culture. We celebrate every step toward more plant-based eating, without judgment about what someone ate yesterday or what they might eat tomorrow.
Occasionally we partner with brands whose values align with ours. These are always clearly disclosed. We never accept payment to recommend products we wouldn't use ourselves.
We talk about the environmental benefits of plant-based eating using peer-reviewed data, and we're honest about the complexity — not all plant foods have equal footprints.
We love hearing from our community — whether it's a recipe you've tried, a question you have, or simply to say hello. Head over to our Contact page or reach us directly at [email protected].
